100% electric, BYD Dolphin Mini leads for the fourth consecutive month at the top. Disclosure/BYD For the second consecutive month, no brand was a match for BYD in the Brazilian automotive retail. Escalating in the national market, the electric and hybrid model manufacturer ended May with 16,883 licensed vehicles and a 14% market share, maintaining the top spot in direct sales to the final consumer.
In addition, three models rank among the five best-sellers in Brazil. For the fourth month in isolated leadership, the 100% electric BYD Dolphin Mini takes the lead: 6,478 units were licensed in the period, a performance that accounted for 38.4% of the brand's sales. This means that, alone, the model concentrates more than 5% of the retail market. The performance was also boosted by models that have been gaining more and more space in different segments.
The BYD Dolphin, also 100% electric, reached the third position among the best-sellers, with 4,163 units, while the Song family occupied the fifth position, with 4,029 units, combining the Pro and Plus hybrids. For Alexandre Baldy, Senior Vice President of BYD do Brasil and Head of Marketing and Commercial at BYD Auto, the leadership position reinforces the ability to connect the portfolio with the needs of the Brazilian market.
Within this strategy, positive results are considered a consequence. “Leading national retail with three models among the top five best-sellers is no coincidence; it is the result of a challenge we set for our teams every day: understanding what Brazilians need and delivering that with accessible technology,” he considers. BYD Dolphin appears in third place in the sales ranking. BYD/Disclosure With the goal of reaching general leadership of the national market by 2030, BYD has expanded its market share and strengthened its relationship with consumers. Tyler Li, president of BYD Brazil, sees relevance far beyond the numbers.
For the executive, more than an expressive sales result, the performance reflects the consolidation of a strategy built from the dedication of a team aligned with technology, innovation, and proximity to the public. “Today it is almost impossible not to find a BYD model on every corner of the country, and this demonstrates that the brand has managed to fulfill its role of making electrification stop being a niche trend and become a concrete choice for thousands of Brazilians,” he evaluates. BYD Song Pro is one of the models of the Song family, also in the top 5. BYD/Disclosure Expansion in Brazil The escalation is set to increase with the expansion of operations at the Camaçari (BA) industrial complex.
Inaugurated in October 2025, the factory has already produced around 70,000 units of the Dolphin Mini, King, and Song Pro models, with construction underway to start full production on national soil. In the technological field, the company announced the development of its own 4-nanometer automotive chip.
On the global stage, BYD sold 383,453 vehicles in May 2026, with 160,177 destined for markets outside China, totaling 1.4 million units in the accumulated period from January to May and surpassing 16.5 million electrified vehicles sold since the beginning of its operations.
