Chadwick Boseman's brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, spoke out publicly for the first time after filing a lawsuit against the actor's widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of the family, challenges the administration of the artist's estate and seeks clarification regarding the distribution of assets left by the 'Black Panther' star.
The legal dispute, filed in Los Angeles, has as its primary objective the removal of Ledward from her position as estate administrator. According to the brothers, although a court ruling in October 2022 determined the final distribution of assets, the probate process has still not been concluded by the widow.
The family claims that Ledward's management has been unilateral and that there has been no proper division of assets. Among the questioned points are the transfer of funds from a life insurance policy to the actor's mother, as well as bank and retirement accounts that remain open without clear explanations regarding their contents.
The disputed estate involves a series of assets, including image rights, intellectual property, royalties, real estate, and bank accounts. Since the actor passed away without a will in 2020, the legal division provides that the widow receives 50% of the estate, while the artist's parents are entitled to 25%.
In a statement, the brothers emphasized that the lawsuit has the authorization of their parents, Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, and that the goal is to guarantee transparency and compliance with court decisions. They highlighted their commitment to preserving Chadwick's legacy with dignity and integrity.
To date, the defense of Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman has not commented on the accusations presented in the petition. The case remains under judicial review.
