Daniela Mercury reveals that her childhood dream was to be a professional ballerina

At 61 years old, singer Daniela Mercury revealed that her professional trajectory could have followed a completely different path. Before becoming one of the biggest names in Brazilian music, the artist had the concrete goal of building a career as a professional contemporary dance ballerina.

In an interview with André Piunti's YouTube channel, the singer explained that the decision to pursue dance was made in her childhood, at 10 years of age. Although her admiration for Elis Regina sparked her interest in singing, her main focus remained on dance until the beginning of her musical career.

The transition to the stage happened unexpectedly when the artist was 15 years old. While watching a friend perform in a small bar, Daniela was invited to perform a duet. The performance was so positive that the establishment's owners offered her a contract for regular performances on Thursdays.

Despite the initial success in musical performances, the artist reported that she still prioritized dance in her professional life. However, the recognition of her vocal talent and constant invitations to sing ended up shaping her definitive artistic identity.
