The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) ordered, this Wednesday (22), the seizure of batches of extra virgin olive oil and various products from a candy manufacturer. The decision, published in the Federal Official Gazette, aims to protect consumers from products that do not meet the safety and quality standards required by Brazilian legislation.
Among the affected items is the San Olivetto brand extra virgin olive oil. The product presented unsatisfactory results in refractive index tests, which are used to verify the purity of the oil. Due to the issue, the importation, distribution, and consumption of the olive oil are prohibited.
The investigation indicates that the San Olivetto olive oil has an unknown origin and is imported by the company Comercial Alimentícia e Cerealista Vale do Carioca Ltda. However, the importer's registration has been listed as unfit since June 23, 2026, and the company has no located address.
In addition to the olive oil, Anvisa also ordered the seizure of all products from Indústria e Comércio de Doces Fatti a Mano Ltda. The measure was taken after finding that the items lack regularized status with the health regulatory agency.
The inspection verified that Fatti a Mano Ltda manufactures its products in an establishment that lacks proper licensing. For this reason, the manufacturing, sale, and consumption of the brand's candies and desserts are suspended in accordance with Resolution (RE) 2.856/2026.
