An intense gale hit the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, with gusts exceeding 105 km/h, causing damage in Angra dos Reis, Mangaratiba, and Itaguaí. The storm knocked down trees, disrupted power supplies, and left a fisherman missing on Mambucaba beach.
In Angra dos Reis, city hall reported winds of up to 104 km/h on Wednesday afternoon (29). Trees fell in various parts of the city, hitting a vehicle, and a fisherman's boat capsized, dragging him into the sea. The Fire Department continues the search for the missing person.
The municipality is in a state of alert until 11:59 PM. City hall teams are working to clear roads and respond to incidents, while the public is advised to follow official announcements.
In the municipality of Mangaratiba, the gale caused falling branches and power grid outages, leaving several neighborhoods without electricity. So far, there is no data on the number of affected properties or a timeframe for service normalization.
In Itaguaí, residents reported fallen trees, unroofed houses, and power outages. Authorities recommend avoiding areas at risk of falling trees and power lines, as well as following weather updates.
Due to the strong winds, which exceeded 90 km/h, fishing boats and tourism speedboats returned to port. The population is advised to stay in safe locations and heed the guidelines of local authorities.
