Sarau do Povo da Noite brings spoken poetry to the Açaí Fair in Belém. Then, at 7:00 PM, the space will open for the poetry reading event, which runs until 10:00 PM at the Açaí Fair kiosk, with free admission and the presence of Libras interpreters. Poetry, music, and memory At the opening of the night, Roberta will lead reflections on poetic creation, both in written poetry and popular music, exploring the relationships between art, memory, and territory. The idea is to connect literary production with everyday Amazonian references, such as the Açaí Fair itself and Guajará Bay. According to group members, the conversation should also highlight the presence of poetry in cultural manifestations such as carimbó, alongside the spontaneity of life in contact with nature.
The proposal is to transform the gathering into a space for listening, experimentation, and exchange between artists and the public. Open-mic poetry event After the initial conversation, the microphone will be open to anyone who wants to read texts, sing, recite verses, or share other forms of expression. The format of Sarau do Povo da Noite is well known for bringing together different languages without imposing limits on participation. "We give poetry the leading role, but without censoring or limiting the expression of everyone present," summarizes poet and professor Rodrigo Briveira, a member of the collective.
At the gathering, readings of poems, song lyrics, and various performances are common. A nine-year collective Sarau do Povo da Noite was born on September 13, 2017, at Espaço Etnias, at the invitation of Master Dimmi, a reference in carimbó culture. Since then, the group has been promoting literary gatherings in different parts of Belém, always with the goal of democratizing access to poetry. Currently, the collective is formed by Roberta Tavares, Nai Cruz, Rodrigo Briveira, Abílio Dantas, and Thiago Kazu.
This Thursday's edition continues the project's circuit, which has already visited Casa da Linguagem, Cotijuba Island, and the Delícias do Trapiche space in Pedreira.
