Paraná wakes up to frost and breaks its own 2026 cold record As expected, Paraná woke up to frost and recorded the lowest temperature of the year this Wednesday (24), according to the Environmental Technology and Monitoring System (Simepar): -3ºC, in General Carneiro, in the south of the state. In the city, the agency calculates that the wind chill reached -8.4ºC. Until then, the 2026 cold record had been -2.4ºC, on May 11, in Guarapuava, where the wind chill reached -7.5ºC. The other cities that have weather stations and recorded negative temperatures this Wednesday (24) were Palmas (-2.9ºC), Pato Branco and Toledo (-1.3ºC), Guarapuava (-0.9ºC), and Pinhão (-0.3ºC). In Cascavel, in the west, thermometers reached 0ºC. "We had the record for the lowest temperature of the year in many municipalities in the west, southwest, part of the center-south, and also in some cities in the northwest of Paraná.
