70-year-old woman travels to neighboring city in Paraná to buy property and has been missing for over a week, family says

Images show elderly woman going to bus station before disappearing in Paraná Eulália Farias Pinheiro, 70, has been missing for a week. According to her family, the last time she gave news was on June 15, when she left home without notifying her children and caught a bus from Maringá, in northern Paraná, to Nova Londrina, in the northwest of the state. According to a friend's account, Eulália intended to buy a property in the city. Delegate Angelica Nunes reported that the elderly woman's disappearance is being investigated by the Civil Police (PC-PR) and that there are indications of a crime in the case. According to the family, Eulália Farias Pinheiro, 70, disappeared after traveling to a neighboring city to buy property. According to her daughter, it was confirmed that Eulália disembarked in the city at 12:41 PM. On the day Eulália went missing, one of her sons tried to call his mother, but her cell phone was turned off. She did reply to a message at 12:31 PM, but from 12:46 PM onward, she was no longer online and gave no further news. "On Wednesday, a friend of hers contacted me, saying that she mentioned she was buying a property in Nova Londrina and said to keep it a secret. She was buying this property from a friend she had met and had known for a while, so we believe she fell for a scam," Josiane said. The daughter discovered that Eulália went to two banks to withdraw money a week before traveling. However, it is still unknown what amount was withdrawn. "Our father passed away very early, over 30 years ago, and she always took excessive care of her children. She was always both mother and father, so she would message us every day. She would never go without talking to us on purpose. So much so that from the very first day, we already felt her absence and panicked," Josiane reported. With her mother's disappearance, Josiane states that family members began going to Nova Londrina every day in search of answers regarding her whereabouts. "We are desperate because we have no answers and it has been a week since her disappearance. We just want answers, we are torn apart," the daughter concludes.
