During the trial, witness testimonies were also analyzed, reporting jealousy and disagreements between Suzana and the girl. However, the magistrate stated that these accounts, by themselves, do not prove intent to kill and do not replace objective evidence. For this reason, she was convicted of abandonment of an incapable person resulting in death, and not homicide. Suzana's defense reported that it will appeal the decision. Lawyer Suelani Gundim maintains that the death was a fatality and states there is no proof that her client acted with intent to kill. The lawyer representing Isabelly's family, Alexsander Beilner, also reported that he will appeal the sentence.
