Income tax Marcos Serra/g1 Taxpayers can check if they will receive in this batch through the Revenue's website. Just click on the "Meu Imposto de Renda" option and then on "Consultar a Restituição". The page offers guidance and service channels, allowing a simplified or complete consultation of the tax return status through the processing statement accessed in e-CAC.
If any pending issues are identified in the return, the taxpayer can amend it by correcting the information. The Federal Revenue also provides an app for tablets and smartphones that allows users to check information directly from the Federal Revenue databases regarding the release of IRPF refunds and the registration status of a CPF number. In an official statement, the tax authorities state that they "commit to making refund payments only to a bank account held by the taxpayer." Thus, it is worth noting that the Revenue's security routines prevent payment if there is an error in the provided bank details or a problem with the destination account. "To prevent any loss to the taxpayer, the Revenue offers a rescheduling service provided by Banco do Brasil for up to one year from the first credit attempt.
Thus, the taxpayer can correct the bank details to an account in their name," the statement says. In this case, citizens can reschedule the credit of the amounts through the BB Portal or by calling the BB Relationship Center at the following numbers: 4004-0001 (state capitals) 0800-729-0001 (other locations) 0800-729-0088 (exclusive special phone for the hearing impaired) When using this service, taxpayers must provide the refund amount and the return receipt number. Then, they just need to wait for the new credit attempt.
If taxpayers do not claim their refund within the deadline, they will need to submit a request through the e-CAC Portal. Tax audit (Malha fina) When checking, taxpayers will also be able to see if there are any pending issues in their return that prevent the payment of the refund, meaning whether they have fallen into the so-called "malha fina" (tax audit/red tape). To check the status of their IR return, workers must access the Federal Revenue's Virtual Customer Service Center (e-CAC) online. Access is granted using a gov.br account at silver or gold levels. Taxpayers must look for "declarações e demonstrativos" (declarations and statements) in the service. Next, they should look for "Meu Imposto de Renda" and check the 2026 tax return. The tax authorities will inform: Whether the return has been processed (regular status); Whether there are pending issues (tax audit/malha fina). In case of pending issues, it means the return has fallen into the tax authorities' audit trap, meaning it was withheld due to data discrepancies with the information the authorities hold about the taxpayer. In this case, the inconsistency may be the result of incorrect information provided by the taxpayer themselves, the company they work for (paying source), or even third parties (service providers). Upon logging into the Virtual Service Center, the Federal Revenue will inform what the discrepancy is in the audited return and how to resolve the problem. If the worker provided incorrect data, they must submit an amending tax return to correct the information. As soon as this is done by the worker, their return is cleared from the audit. If the paying source or a service provider (from whom the taxpayer included an invoice in their return) made a mistake, the taxpayer must wait for the information to be corrected.
