Man arrested in Paraná after keeping woman in false imprisonment for nine days A 49-year-old man was arrested in the act on Wednesday (17), in Toledo, in western Paraná, suspected of keeping his girlfriend in false imprisonment for nine days. According to the Civil Police, the victim reported that she was prevented from leaving a guesthouse and suffered constant threats, in addition to physical assaults. His name was not released by the police.

So, the family members went to the police and reported that the woman was being held in false imprisonment at a guesthouse in the Vila Pioneiro neighborhood. The victim and the suspect were questioned separately by the police officers. According to the woman's account, she had been in false imprisonment since June 8. She stated that she was prevented from leaving the location and that she suffered threats against her own life and against family members if she tried to get away from the man. The victim also told the police that she had been frequently physically assaulted, including in the days leading up to the police action. Given the evidence gathered at the scene and the statements collected, the man was arrested in the act and taken to the Women's Police Station in Toledo. He is being investigated for the crimes of false imprisonment, bodily injury, threat, insult, and psychological violence in the context of domestic and family violence. The woman received specialized care and was granted access to protective measures provided for under the Maria da Penha Law. The Civil Police continue to investigate the case to clarify all the circumstances of the facts.
