The prosecution states that Oséias refused to fulfill an alleged old promise to make José Claiton a partner of Odonto Excellence and, in retaliation, the director opened his own competing clinic, which intensified the animosity between them. The MP also cites that the conflict worsened even further due to the suspicion that José Claiton was taking advantage of the divorce process between Oséias and his then-wife, who was a co-owner of the company, to take control of her shares in the company. The idea would be, says the MP, to remove Oséias from the administration of his own company, a fact interpreted by him as a direct threat to his assets and his business position. The complaint also states that, to execute the crime, Oséias counted on the support of a pastor, who was responsible for hiring other criminals and coordinating the assassination.

The company director even fought with the criminals and drew his own weapon to try to react, but was subdued and shot to death. "The crime was committed through a coordinated and planned action, executed by ambush in front of the victim's residence. The mastermind allegedly used a network of intermediaries and financial operators to facilitate the execution, carried out by third parties already indicted previously", points out police chief Luis Gustavo Timossi. The investigations were finalized in 2026, and the police chief justifies that the inquiry took four years to be completed due to the investigative work being complex, involving the breach of bank secrecy, analysis of telematic data (such as messages exchanged by those involved, for example), hearings of several witnesses, among other diligences. According to him, at the beginning of the investigation, the businessman's name was mentioned by those involved, but concrete evidence was still lacking, obtained only recently.
To the police, José Claiton's family members stated that, before being killed, he expressed fear for his physical integrity and said he was afraid that Oséias would order his murder. The police chief highlights that bank transfers were identified from accounts controlled by the investigated person to the accounts of the crime's logistical operators on dates close to the homicide, totaling amounts used to fund the operation and pay the executors, and that before dying the victim himself had expressed to family members his fear for his physical integrity, pointing to the CEO as the main person interested in a possible attack on his life.
