Araucária to promote blood donation incentive caravans throughout the year

Red June has begun, a month dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of blood donation. The period reinforces actions carried out nationwide, especially due to World Blood Donor Day, celebrated on June 14. In Araucária, the mobilization is reinforced by the renewal of the partnership between the City Hall and the Center for Hematology and Hemotherapy of Paraná (Hemepar) for monthly blood donation caravans throughout the year. The initiative will provide free transportation to take volunteers from Araucária to Hemepar's blood bank in Curitiba, returning to the municipality on the same day. The caravans will depart and arrive at the Araucária Municipal Hospital (HMA), according to the scheduled timeline. The HMA team will contact eligible candidates to provide instructions and confirm the details of the donation. Minors under 18 must be accompanied and present authorization from their legal guardian; Weigh at least 50 kilos and be in good health conditions; Present an official photo ID; Be fed, hydrated, and rested, avoiding fatty foods before donation; Respect the interval between donations, which is approximately 60 days for men and 90 days for women; Have no temporary or permanent impediments identified during the clinical screening. Temporary impediments include international travel in the last 30 days, getting tattoos in the last 6 months, aesthetic procedures less than 15 days ago, or surgeries within the restriction periods defined by health protocols, as well as certain infectious conditions. Importance of donation The single bag of blood can save up to four lives. The collected blood is used in emergency care, surgeries, oncological treatments, and various other medical situations.
