Mantenha a constância nos treinos durante o inverno

Winter can present additional challenges for exercising, but with a few simple adjustments, it is possible to maintain your routine safely and effectively.

Prepare yourself before heading out

Before starting your outdoor physical activity, spend a few minutes on a light warm-up in a sheltered environment. Movements like jumping jacks, jumping rope, or walking up and down stairs can help gradually raise your body temperature, preparing your body for the effort and reducing the risk of injury.

Dress in layers and keep moving

Use layered clothing that allows for freedom of movement. Start with a base layer that wicks away moisture, add insulating layers as needed, and an outer layer that protects against wind and rain. After the initial warm-up, perform dynamic stretches focusing on your arms, legs, and torso. This helps lubricate the joints and prevent the muscle stiffness common in lower temperatures.

Choose the time and pace for cardio

Opt for moderate-paced cardiovascular activities, such as brisk walking or light jogging. If possible, choose times when the temperature is milder, such as early morning or late afternoon. Look for routes that offer some protection from the wind. This approach helps conserve energy and manage the feeling of fatigue that the cold can intensify.

Adjust workout intensity

On colder days, it may be prudent to adjust the intensity of your strength workouts. Consider reducing the load or speed, prioritizing the correct execution of movements. Slightly longer intervals between sets can also be beneficial. This helps avoid muscle overload when the body is colder, favoring recovery and the maintenance of consistency.

Stay hydrated and warm up after your workout

Hydration is important even on cold days. Consider drinking warm water or unsweetened teas during and after exercise. When finishing your activity, do gentle static stretches and put on dry, warm clothes as quickly as possible. This contributes to body temperature regulation and helps reduce muscle stiffness.
