5 estratégias para manter a constância nos treinos durante o inverno

Tip 1 – Focus on the initial warm-up

In cold weather, muscles and joints tend to become stiffer. Therefore, preparing the body before starting the main effort is essential to avoid discomfort.

  • What to do: Dedicate 5 to 10 minutes to joint mobility movements and light exercises, such as slow walking or jumping jacks, preferably in a place protected from the wind.
  • Benefit: Gradually raises body temperature and heart rate, lubricates joints, and helps prevent injuries.

Tip 2 – Dress in adaptable layers

The choice of clothing directly influences comfort and thermal regulation during physical activities in winter.

  • What to do: Use the layering system. Wear a light, breathable piece next to the body, a thermal insulating layer on top, and, if necessary, a windbreaker jacket. As your body warms up, you can remove the outer pieces. When finished, change out of sweat-dampened clothes as soon as possible.
  • Benefit: Keeps the body warm at the beginning and prevents overheating during the workout, in addition to protecting against thermal shock after the activity ends.

Tip 3 – Prefer active breaks

During workouts on cold days, long periods of completely static rest can cause body temperature to drop rapidly.

  • What to do: Instead of stopping completely between sets or exercises, perform active recoveries, such as walking slowly or performing light loosening movements.
  • Benefit: Keeps muscles warm and active, reducing the feeling of cold and the risk of muscle strains.

Tip 4 – Do not neglect hydration

In winter, the sensation of thirst tends to decrease, but the body continues to lose fluids through breathing and perspiration.

  • What to do: Keep a water bottle nearby and take small sips before, during, and after the workout. Room temperature drinks or warm sugar-free teas are excellent options for this period.
  • Benefit: Ensures good muscle function, aids in thermal regulation, and prevents dehydration.

Tip 5 – Plan objective and flexible workouts

The lack of natural light and low temperatures early in the morning or at the end of the day can be demotivating. Adapting your plan helps maintain consistency.

  • What to do: If it is very cold outside, opt for shorter, focused sessions, or perform functional circuits at home or in covered spaces.
  • Benefit: Facilitates adherence to the routine, eliminates the barrier of commuting on colder days, and keeps the body active in a practical way.

Note: Remember that each body reacts differently to the weather. To adapt your workouts with total safety to your health conditions, always consult a physical education professional or a doctor.
