5 estratégias para manter a constância nos treinos durante o inverno

1. Dedicate more time to warming up

In the cold, muscles and joints tend to become stiffer. Therefore, starting physical activity progressively is fundamental. Dedicate a few initial minutes to performing gentle joint movements and low-intensity exercises. This helps raise body temperature gradually, improves blood circulation, and prepares the body for exertion, reducing the risk of muscle discomfort.

2. Adjust workout dynamics

If lack of time or discouragement with low temperatures usually get in the way, more dynamic and focused workouts can be excellent alternatives. Activities that alternate stimuli help keep the body warm quickly. Always remember to respect your current physical conditioning and, if necessary, rely on the guidance of a physical education professional to adapt exercise intensity safely.

3. Keep moving during breaks

During pauses between sets, avoid staying completely still or sitting down, as the body cools down quickly in winter. Take advantage of these moments to take light walks around the space or perform dynamic and gentle stretches. This practice helps maintain an appropriate heart rate and prevents the sensation of muscle stiffness when resuming exercise.

4. Wear appropriate layered clothing

The choice of attire is crucial for thermal comfort and safety. A good strategy is to dress in layers: wear a lightweight, breathable piece next to your body to absorb sweat, followed by a comfortable sweater to retain heat, and, if training outdoors, a jacket that protects against the wind. As the body warms up during activity, you can remove excess layers practically.

5. Do not neglect hydration

In winter, the sensation of thirst usually decreases, but the body continues to lose fluids through sweat and breathing. Keep a water bottle close by and drink small sips throughout your physical activity. Choosing room-temperature water can make ingestion more comfortable on colder days.
